The Director of Police Crime Intelligence, Col Atwooki Ndahura, has been recalled into the armed forces, said the army spokesperson.
Brig Richard Karemire on Wednesday morning told edge.ug that Col Ndahura who was brought to police by former IGP Kale Kayihura will now return to Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).
“True,” Karemire told us when asked to confirm the reports.
He added: “His [Ndahura] tour of duty has come to an end and he is coming back to UPDF headquarters for redeployment.”
Lt Col Ndahura was appointed Police Director of Crime Intelligence in 2015.
In his recent reorganisation, the new IGP Okoth Ochola reverted Crime Intelligence to the combined Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Crime Intelligence (CIID).
Before joining police, Ndahura served in the Presidential Protection Unit (PPU) and in 2001, he featured in election violence in Rukungiri where he allegedly beat up supporters of Dr Kizza Besigye.
He later joined the Special Revenue Protection Services (SRPS) in 2002.
